E-603 - Smokeshow (Review, Listen, & Download)

You like mashups? Of course you do. Who doesn't like the intricate art of splicing several different songs together to create a Frankenstein-esque song for your listening pleasure. While most songs limit themselves to just a few (3-5) songs per mashup, the infamously awesome mashup band E-603 goes beyond that to a seemingly unreachable limit. Each song contains more than 15 different songs blended into a short and sweet eclectic track set that ranges from Disco, Hip Hop, Pop, and 80s. All songs have varied beat drum rhythm that begs to be danced to. While most mashups retain the same backing melody through the majority of the song, each track on Smokeshow changes the backing melody several times over, becoming a new "song" several times before the track ends. For example, "What They Do" opens with a backing melody of Michael Jackson's "Rock With You" with lyrics of Trick Daddy's "In Da Wind." This continues on before blending into a new set of background melodies and foreground rap jams. This is the modus operandi of E-603 truly creating a neat mess of songs that you'd have never guessed could mesh together. The continuous change of pace in each track may keep the listener from truly enjoying the music, but it's an entertaining ride to enjoy nonetheless. Best of all, you can download the entire album for free for yourself on the E-603 website, here.
